Yes, yes, I know! It’s not even fall and I’m talking Spring. But hear me out. Every February and March as my neighborhood begins to wake from its winter slumber, I wonder why on earth I didn’t order flower bulbs the year before! I’m drawn to gorgeous ranunculus bouquets in the markets and gracing the covers of wedding magazines. I’m envious of neighbors whose yards spring alive with a full display of tulips and daffodils. And there I am, asking…”why didn’t I order bulbs the year before.” No more friends! No more. This year, although somewhat late to ordering (I was shocked to already find some of my favorites have already sold out in pre-orders), I went ahead and ordered some bulbs to brighten what is sure to be an extra dull winter. After scouring my favorite source bulbs (this is where I bought my dahlia tubers from this Spring), I placed an order! I ended up going with two types of ranunculus, these and these. Decided on these white tulips for the front of our house. And these pink and peach for the gardens. I’m still debating about all the daffodil options ~ who knew there were so many to choose from! And I’m thinking this may be the year I add alliums to one of our beds. If you’ve been eyeing peonies…this is also the time to order and plant for fall, my all time favorite being these! Keep in mind peonies are an investment in both time and money. Typically you won’t see blooms for a couple years. Year one typically none, year two, a few and by year three they’re amazing! Well, there you have it, my favorite Spring Flower Bulbs! In the comments below, tell me what you’re planning on for your Spring Garden!
