There’s nothing that says summertime better than a freshly picked melon, and once you taste one fresh off the vine, you’ll have a hard time eating anything else. These charentais melons have quickly become our household favorite! A type of French cantaloupe, they grow to about the size of a softball, and have an intoxicating aroma and sweetest of tastes. These have quickly become a permanent part of our our summer garden! I love finding items to grow that can’t easily be found in my local grocer. These have delicate skin making them logistically impracticable to ship and therefore sell. Making them the perfect and delightful thing to grow in your own garden, I promise they’re worth the effort! We purchase seeds from here, and have found that growing them on a trellis works best. Powdery Mildew and pests (like vine borers & melonworms) can become an issue, to combat these, we find this to work well. And from readers we have also heard that this also works well.
Hope you too are enjoying days in your garden. For this dress and more of my current favorites, visit my page here. Happy growing friends!
